Why are you weeping?

Reach here your finger, and see my hands; and reach here your hand, and put it into my side; and be not unbelieving, but believing.  John 20:27

The fact of resurrection, so easy to forget.  Remember that he rose from the dead.   Even the disciples did not understand until Jesus appears before them the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead.  20:9  Jesus said to Thomas,

Because you have seen me, have you believed?  Blessed are they who did not see and yet believed. 20:29

Let’s remember his resurrection and stop weeping.  Receive his resurrection as mine and don’t  forget.  It happened.

…these have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in his name. 20:31

Faith – personal response to God.  God can accept in place of a righteousness no human being possesses.  Faith as intellectual assent or mere agreement with facts is not the kind of faith the Scriptures invite us to have.  It is not enough to agree.  There must be response to the object of faith – a believing in.  This faith response is not made to information, even to true information.  This faith response is made to God himself, just as Abraham’s faith was not just a response to information but to God personally.  Lawrence O.
