Oct. 14, 2018 No Need for Bath

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!” Galatians 2:20, 21

I think it is important to know what it means to have faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God.  It means to acknowledge that we need him to gain righteousness which in turn means that we are not righteous on our own.  We need to acknowledge that without our faith in Christ, we are unrighteous, that is sinful.

If we are saying that there is no sin, good and evil are of equal status, as many Christian churches are teaching now, then, Christ died for nothing in deed.  We may call out the name of Jesus and Christ and chant his name again and again ad nausea overcome with emotions, it’s nothing.  Without the acknowledgement of our sin and need for redemption with a contrite heart, we would not be convinced that we need Him.   Jesus’ name would be used in vain like when people stub their toes and curse “Jesus Help me!”  If you say I am fine.  I’m clean enough.  I don’t need a bath.  Then, No need for Christ and his terrible suffering and death on the cross.  The requirement for us is to acknowledge the meaning of who Jesus’s death on the cross.
