For they all were trying to make us afraid, saying, “Their hands will be weakened in the work, and it will not be done.”Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands. Nehemiah 6:9
The Plots of the Adversaries
The plot against Nehemiah: 6:1-14. The 3 enemies realize that Nehemiah is the key to the Jewish resurgence. They attempt to neutralize him. But Nehemiah avoids their traps, ignores their threats, and refuses to hide when threatened by assassination.
The wall completed: 6:15-19. The wall is completed in a stunning 52 days. This evidence of God’s blessing encourages the Jews and is a terrific blow to the self-confidence of their enemies.
15 So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of Elul, in fifty-two days. 16 And it happened, when all our enemies heard of it, and all the nations around us saw these things, that they were very disheartened in their own eyes; for they perceived that this work was done by our God.
