“Joy is the settled assurance that God is in control of all the details of my life; the quiet confidence that ultimately everything will be alright, and the determined choice to praise God in all things.” Kay Warren
Our pastor Andy gave us this quote from Kay Warren, Rick Warren’s wife during his sermon yesterday. Their son who suffered mental illness committed suicide.
Pastor Andy said happiness is circumstantial (money, health etc.) but joy is not circumstantial. We can have joy regardless of our circumstances.
We have joy when we encounter God. When we realize that God loves us and has taken care of everything for us. We have something wonderful waiting for us. When Holy Spirit indwells us.
A few days ago, when someone was extremely mean to me and launched a verbal assault on me, I was able to stay calm and presented my case to him. I felt the power of Holy Spirit in me as I met his eyes without flinching.
Most of the times, I am a very timid person. But when I prayed, I received the ability to handle the matter well. So I learned what to do whenever I feel overwhelmed 🙂 Knowing that I can receive the power to deal with anybody or anything gives me joy indeed.
