Home – Place of Rest

Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.  Hebrews 4:1

9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. 11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.

Rest Today

God always speaks in the “today” of his people, eager to guide them into his rest.  “Rest” is used to describe life in the Promised Land:  a life in total contrast to the bondage the old generation had known as slaves.  In the Promised Land were vineyards Israel had not planted and homes they had not built, all waiting for them to take possession.

Lord I’m Coming Home.

It does not say I’m going home.  It’s not me going away.  It’s coming Home.  It’s about arriving.  Home itself that has been ready and waiting coming to me as I walk towards it.

I felt that the homeless tent I went yesterday is home where God, the Holy Spirit, was.
