At this point Luke joins the missionary team (Paul & Silas).  Perhaps as many as 8 years of ministry are summarized in these few chapters.

Imprisonment in Philippi

When Paul casts a demon out of a slave girl used as a fortune teller, her furious owners accuse the missionaries of “throwing out city in an uproar.”  Paul and Silas were beaten and thrown into prison.

25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.

37 But Paul said to the officers: “They beat us publicly without a trial, even though we are Roman citizens, and threw us into prison. And now do they want to get rid of us quietly? No! Let them come themselves and escort us out.”

Paul + Silas, Timothy, Luke…

Missionaries – traveled in harsh conditions, covering many areas.  They were persecuted, imprisoned, beaten without a trial.  People’s trial, like Me Too movement.
